Case Study – Victorian Government Orange Door – Drupal 8 Website Design Build

The Orange Door is a Victorian government service, rolling out in all towns across Victoria by 2020. It provides access to services for people experiencing family violence. &Mine’s challenge was to develop a website for the Orange Door on Drupal 8, which would allow users to search via their suburb to find their nearest Orange Door location.
The client’s brief was to have a site that’s easy to navigate, and one that’s visually appealing. AndMine had to keep in line with Orange Door brand guidelines, and build the website on Drupal 8.
We brought the brand guidelines to life by utilising the orange, yellow, and grey colour palette. A two-level hierarchical menu developed, with ‘help and support near you’ being the most important call-to-action.
The government website now has a ‘quick exit’ button for users concerned about others seeing them on this site. When clicked, they will be directed to a Google search page.
There is also a pop-up upon entry to the site that assures users the website is a safe haven. It gives instructions on how to clear browser history.
There is an accordion option for content pages in the CMS. It allows users to drill down to content relevant to them. This stops them from having to scroll through a long webpage.
&Mine always builds websites that are mobile first and we did thorough testing across desktop, mobile, and all browsers to ensure the website was stable and the UX was exceptional. We made multiple amends to the staging website to ensure the website felt friendly, safe, and easy to navigate.
The Orange Door website is W3C AA compliant, so can be accessed by individuals who are hearing or visually impaired. The website supports different languages and &Mine will be working with the client to build out pages in different languages.
